Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris, Yala National Park

Yala National Park – Sri Lanka's premier nature reserve – sets the scene for Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris' boutique blend of wilderness camping. This award-winning safari outfit – famed for its personalised service, in-the-know guides and comfortable facilities – was founded in 2006 by wildlife fanatic Noel Rodrigo. Having trailed leopards in Yala for over 35 years, Noel was keen to share his experiences with others and the result is this harmonious escape into the wild.

Popular with couples and families alike, Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris’ camps engage the senses. Customised South African tents equipped with king-sized beds, private bathrooms and cushy living areas ensure you are as comfortably close to nature as possible. You feast al fresco, shower under hot water beneath twinkling stars and climb aboard customised Toyota 4X4s for exciting game drives into the wild.

Leopards are a particular expertise for the company (they provide logistical and financial support to the Leopard Project, part of the Wilderness & Wildlife Conservation Trust), and Yala is a favourite for its thriving leopard population and their relative ease at being spotted on safari. A diversity of birds, reptiles and mammals, including sloth bears and elephants, are also spied on game drives.

Located a stone’s throw from Yala National Park, the camp is eco-friendly and non permanent. Rates are all-inclusive, and a proportion is used to support local social projects.
