Born out of a 19th century tea planters bungalow, Glenross Living – a sister hotel to Water Garden Sigiriya – offers a collection of exceptionally spacious villas and suites in a serene yet easily accessible part of the island. Tea planters’ bungalows are commonly found at high elevations, yet this sensitively restored house, surrounded by mature tropical gardens, is only 40 minutes from west coast Kalutara. This makes it particularly suitable for those looking to taste Hill Country life without having to travel too far from the coast.
The main house dates back to 1876 and preserves many original features including graceful arched ceilings and period furniture. It’s home to a restaurant, living room and a well-stocked bar. The main swimming pool shares in the lush valley views.
In total there are 10 guestrooms at this wellness hotel in Kalutara, which welcomes couples, honeymooners and families alike. Three of these are large suites whilst the remaining seven are vast duplex Pool Villas with private view-blessed plunge pools. The villas are glass-walled allowing the picturesque panoramas of Neboda town, paddy, rubber and cinnamon estates, and the surrounding hills to shine.
The hotel enshrines transformative wellness, and has a spa, yoga shala and curated menus all complimented by a team of experts who are on hand to tailor bespoke programs championing healthy living. Through nutrition, fitness, mindfulness and community, these practical solutions are designed to enhance physical, mental and emotional health.
