Water Garden Sigiriya is a luxurious Cultural Triangle hotel located within eyeshot of Sigiriya – one of a handful of World Heritage Sites that make this historic region such a must-visit destination. The hotel cherishes its view towards Sigiriya’s 200-metre-high rock fortress and has a clever layout and design that celebrates Sigiriya’s famous water gardens. This Sigiriya hotel was artfully created by Channa Daswatta, one of Sri Lanka’s foremost architects.
From the free-standing reception area, a pathway leads towards the rooms, spa and public areas, yet your eyes are drawn towards the distant view of Sigiriya. Rooms are freestanding villas offering a substantial amount of space – a bedroom and living area, an ensuite bathroom and a furnished terrace. Many villas have private plunge pools and there are four two-storey two-bedroom family duplexes, which also have pools. The restaurant and bar sit beside the swimming pool, and both the spa and gym observe the watery bird-filled grounds from stilts.
Bicycles are available to explore the rural surroundings of this beautiful hotel. Sigiriya is the main focus yet staff take guests on quiet nature trails or on thrilling ATV rides, offer arrack pairing classes and Sri Lankan cookery demos or set up picnics in close proximity to the hotel. Other local attractions include Dambulla’s cave temples and Wasgamuwa National Park.
